Life Story of Tamil actress Gayathri Shankar

Born in to a Tamil family Gayathri Shankar was brought up in Bangalore by her parents. Both of them were Bankers. Her grandfather was from Trichy and an Army Officer. Her father was also from the Indian Air Force prior to joining the Bank.

Gayathri Shankar ambition was to become a renowned psychologist and hence she pursued a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Tamil Actress Gayathri is also a trained Hypnotherapist. She is a polyglot as she can speak many languages Tamil, English, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu and, Marathi .She is keen on learning Spanish.

Being a nature and animal lover she was actively involved in several organisations in Bangalore where she lived first and later in Chennai to protect, preserve and serve them. She is also an expert snake catcher the art which she had learnt in a workshop conducted by the Forest department. She is a sportsperson too. She played ultimate Frisbee in Chennai. She believes that sports has really changed her outlook of life for good. She wants every girl to be encouraged to play some sports or the other. Her dream is to act in a total Sports film. She has already participated in an adventure sports event Acchamm Thavir hosted by Vijay T.V.

Tamil actress Gayathri Shankar has already directed short films like – On An Impulse ( for the eight edition of India Film project,), Shit ( Which had won an award ). Though she has no plans to direct a film the experience of directing the short films was really enriching and empowering never the less.

Acting was never in her mind at all. It was by chance it all had happened. She was spotted in a bowling alley with her friend while she was in her twelfth standard by the movie community , After the screen tests were satisfactory she was offered the lead role in the Tamil film Yean Ippadi Mayakkinai . But the film did not see the light of the day as several legal issues had cropped up .So she continued her studies.

While still in College she got plenty of offers in Tamil films. 18 Vayasu, Pon Malai pozhuthu and Naduvila Konjam Pakkathai Kanom (A super hit comedy opposite Vijay Sethupathy) were all released while she was doing her degree in Psychology.

All the movies that she has acted till date are in Tamil only . She is extremely happy to act with Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi, who has been so humane, genuine and very friendly with her. Incidentally Vijay Sethupathy happened to be the Hero in seven of her movies.

Actress Gayathri Shankar enjoys her profession thoroughly, wanting to act in different languages and different projects with different genres. Her only expectation is that her character in every film must be talked about by the audience at large,
